The very successful 5th Paella Festival was held at the Hotel Hacienda del Mar Los Cabos, Resort, Villas & Golf.
The 5th Paella Festival took place at the Hotel Hacienda de Mar Los Cabo’s Resort, Villas & Golf on Saturday, June 4th. It was a huge success with fourteen hotels participating in the event. The best of the best of the participants was from El Ganzo hotel – with a “mixed” black rabbit and seafood paella. Chef Mauricio Martínez and his team were the winners of this fifth edition which was organized and coordinated by the Los Cabos Rotary Club and Los Cabos Hotel Association.
The Los Cabos Rotary Club, in the midst of this great celebration, reiterated its commitment to support the education of our youth with its Scholarship Program by donating 100% of the proceeds from this event. More than 500 guests attended the event and approximately $300,000 MXN was raised. Currently there are 16 young people benefiting from this fund that helps them continue their studies.
The award for 1st place was presented by Rafael García Ceseña, Director of Economic Development and Tourism of Los Cabos who was representing Professor Oscar Leggs Castro the Mayor of the XIV City Council Hall of Los Cabos. He stressed his continued commitment to this type of event that benefits the community of Los Cabos.
The judges that awarded first place to the El Ganzo hotel and chef Mauricio Martínez and his team were: Renato Mendoca, Jesús Corral, Santiago García, Ángel Carbajal, Claudia Velo, Dawn Solomon, Gay Thatcher and Miguel Ángel Lopez.
Guests and attendees enjoyed a pleasant afternoon with excellent music by the group, The Suaves, while they had the opportunity to watch the preparation of the 14 different paellas, including a vegan recipe. Sponsors of the event provided wine, tequila and mezcal for guests to sample.

It is worth mentioning that, as part of the celebration at the 5th Paella Festival, the Los Cabos Rotary Club welcomed Lucia Hatfield as the new president-elect of the club.
